At Children’s University, we understand that parents have many questions when it comes to their child’s education and care. To help you navigate your journey with us, we’ve compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our policies, programs, and daily routines.

General Information

What are the hours of operation?

Children’s University is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 

How does Children’s University differ from traditional daycare?

Unlike daycare, Children’s University provides a structured preschool curriculum designed to foster academic, social, and emotional growth, preparing children for lifelong learning and success.

Enrollment and Registration

What paperwork is required for enrollment?

The following documents are needed for enrollment:

  • Completed registration packet

  • Tuition Express form

  • Physical/health assessment

  • Immunization record

  • H1N1 form

  • Distracted driver form

Are uniforms required?

Yes, children 1 year and older have mandatory uniforms. Brand-new Children’s University polo shirts can be purchased through our vendor, or gently used shirts are available at the front desk for $5 each. Bottoms must be khaki, and closed-toe shoes are required.

Classroom Policies

What time should my child arrive at school?

Children's University opens at 7:00 a.m. Harvard Way VPK begins at 8:00 a.m. Children enrolled in the VPK program must arrive by 7:55 a.m. All other children must arrive by 8:55 a.m. to begin their structured curriculum at 9:00 a.m. Late arrivals are not permitted without a doctor's note.

Can I pick up my child early?

Yes. A staff member will walk your child to the waiting room for early dismissal between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Can my child bring toys or electronics to school?

No, toys, electronics, and valuable items are not permitted. This helps maintain a focused and safe learning environment.

Meals and Snacks

Does the school provide meals?

Families can opt into our catering program, which provides lunch Monday through Friday, including Pizza Fridays. The cost is $22.50 per week or $4.50 weekly for Pizza Fridays only. Families may also pack lunches.

What is the policy for water cups?

Each child must bring a labeled, spill-proof water cup daily. If a cup is not provided, one will be issued for $10.

Parent Involvement

Can I visit my child’s classroom?

To maintain a focused learning environment, classroom visits by parents are not allowed during the school day. However, parents can stay informed about their child's activities through updates provided on the parent portal app.

Can I celebrate my child’s birthday at school?

Yes, during morning drop-off, you can bring in treats for your child to share with their classmates. Parents may not attend any in-class celebrations. Please ensure any treats are pre-approved by the director.
